If there’s one thing I expect out of company blogs, then it’s great value. Sure, I’m fine with posts focused on industry-relevant news. I’m also fine with tangential posts, which don’t necessarily directly relate to the business or industry itself but still address the interests of the people reading the blog. But, more often than not, I prefer that a business blog shows exactly how the business is helping other people.

This is why I was happy to see a RingCentral Blog post focused on the call management features that their clients will find most useful.

What makes this blog post good for RingCentral

RingCentral, just in case you don’t know, is considered to be one of the best – if not the best – cloud-based business phone system provider today. It has a reputation for offering companies, fledgling or otherwise, some of the most advanced telephony for incredibly low prices. In other words, the strength of this enterprise lies on affordable cloud-based technology in the form of phone systems.

The thing is that you still can’t expect everyone to understand what this type of technology does and how it works right now. Why? It’s because cloud technology, as a concept, is still relatively new to a lot of people. Not everyone is a tech-savvy early adopter, and as such it necessary for web-based content that help many such persons get a better grasp of new ideas and processes. Without them, there is actually little guarantee that new adopters will actually take on the technology – specifically, there is no guarantee that they will even try out what a specific company is offering.

In this case, however, you get an entry in the RingCentral tips section of that company’s official blog which not only enumerates the most useful call management features offered with the product, but also discusses the importance of such features. Furthermore, it indirectly establishes the connection between traditional telephony and this new kind of telephony while emphasizing vast improvements at the same time.

In other words, this post helps RingCentral establish itself not only as an excellent phone service provider but as an authority on modern and advanced phone systems for business. And if there’s one thing a company needs to strive to become in a world ruled by the Internet, it’s an authority in its own industry.

Why every blog should occasionally have posts like this

In the above-mentioned blog post by RingCentral, the company provided its readers with important information which, at the same time, shows the brand to its advantage. While hard sell tactics are generally frowned upon, one could hardly fault business for taking the opportunity to promote their products on their own blog. With entries like this, companies can occasionally remind their blog readers that they are running a business whose aim is to help people reach their goals.

As long as its writing style doesn’t really place emphasis on why a brand’s products are better than the competitors’ and instead focuses on benefits to core users or subscribers, you can make brand-focused blog posts like this fairly compelling.
